A young and energetic side composed mainly of under 18s, they entered their tier two group games with the drive to take home the title.

Despite pouring rain and cold winds in their first game, Rather Play Fortnite got off to a strong start with a 5-0 win over Naked Hockey, followed up by another 5-0 win over Net Flicks and Chill while playing fast and composed hockey. They showed the rest of tier 2 they were here to win, demonstrating their slick passing, strong defence, and skilful dribbling.

In the third game of the day, the sun finally made an appearance in a 3-1 win over the tier 2 title holders Young Guns, with Rather Play Fortnite providing an excellent display of both defensive and attacking play to hold back against a fellow young team, controlling the pace of the game through fast ball speed and effective recycling of the ball before launching attacks.

Rather Play Fortnite’s final tier 2 group game was against the South Sicksons, which would decide who plays in the first place play-off. This was the toughest task so far that required their defensive best to hold out against forwards who were incredibly dangerous on the ball, as well as needing to control the game with their passing and zoning. After the 15 minutes, unbeaten Rather Play Fortnite advanced to the tier 2 first place play-off, winning 2-1.

Their final game was against the Saxon Warriors in the tier 2 first place play-off. Despite taking an early lead in the game, Rather Play Fortnite couldn’t hold out against the pressure from the Warriors solid defence and long passes, being broken down and eventually losing the game 3-1. However, Rather Play Fortnite still put up a good fight, stopping multiple scoring chances while still providing a threat on the attack thanks to some incredible individual dribbling as well as teamwork and passing.

Overall, despite being runners-up, Rather Play Fortnite enjoyed a very successful and enjoyable tournament, and will certainly be back next year stronger, ready to take the title.
